Don Miguel Ruiz

The Four Agreements

The best selling book by Don Miguel Ruiz is somewhat of a YOG bible for us. Ruiz basically gives four principles to practice in order to create love and happiness in our life.  Actually living by these agreements can be extremely challenging, but if practiced daily can be life changing.

The Four Agreements are:

1. Be impeccable with your word.

In other words, say what you mean and mean what you say. Never use your word against yourself or others (gossip).

2. Don’t take anything personally.

Try to remember that what others say and do has nothing to do with you, but rather a projection of their own reality. When you become immune to the opinions and actions of others, the needless suffering will cease.

3. Don’t make assumptions.

You’ll be surprised at how often we assume. Try to always communicate clearly with others to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. When in doubt,  ask questions in order to receive the facts.

4. Always do your best.

Obviously your best will change depending on your capabilities, such as when you are healthy versus sick. But if you always do your best, you will avoid judgement and abuse from the most important judge – YOU!

So if you haven’t already done so, BUY this book now and keep it handy for constant reference to either gain or maintain your YOGness.
